I posted this because it is about the genital wash/vaginal wash that being used nowadays aren’t safe anymore no matter how mild it is…

At Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital, where I’m currently having my duty, we have already 8 cases in a row regarding feminine wash. It has found out still to be harsh to the vagina and causes dryness in its lining causing for some bacteria to make its flora leading to infection.

Though, it is not consecutive days of cases but still women still must be alarmed of this… I haven’t reviewed the contents and its pathophysiology because of my busy time… I’ll do my best to inform you all… AS SOON AS POSSIBLE…

Right now, the best advice I could have is to use water in washing our genitals to be safe and choose soaps which has less bubbles when being rubbed or wet by water… (^^;) or you can dilute the daily soap you’re using in water before cleansing the genitals

so what's a good brand?

lactacyd can dry up the vagina too much...i have tried avon (it has menthol), and carefree, but by far the best that really leaves me feeling clean is betadine...

for me, wash it with water. Coz it's safe. You can dilute a small (smallest as possible) amount of soap in a water and you can use it in cleansing.

The problem with feminine washes is that all of them are bases. Thats why they have a soapy consistency. The vagina has an acidic environment. Adding base would make the pH to neutral. The normal vaginal flora die when they are in basic media. Eventually, there is overgrowth of the bad bacteria. So instead of the good smell we get from these perfumed feminine washes, there is a weird odor due to the bad bacteria. The best solution would be to use diluted vinegar but I think this is very offensive to us women. Hello! Di naman tayo kilawin. So, I thikn the best thing to do would be to dilute your feminine wash to like 1:5 dilution & if possible, just use water when needed.
